Therapy

I was down on many days/It was hard in many ways/I've been through the dirt and through the mud but all my dues are paid/I was "What the fuckin" all the time/Havin nothing clutch the 9, not a nickel, not a dime/Drank away the issues, vodka soda, vodka limes, been through plenty tissues, suicide inside my mind/But then my friend I found a pen and jotted down a line/And in that line I made a rhyme that talked of better times/Addicted to the versus, twisting words and then inserted, different phrases of the days when everything was just so perfect/That's what really started workin, on the page I started merkin, filled with rage I went insane and rode the wave like I was surfin/It was therapeutic, didn't do it just to do it/I was so influenced being down and feeling ruined/Took the past and then I chewed it, choked it down and then I spewed it, then I transferred to the paper like I worked at Western Union/I was flowin, it was fluent, with every rhyme I was improvin, deep inside I wasn't losin, one direction I was movin/I arose out of that darkness, from that hell I then departed/Took the gas, I lit a match, I struck the pad and then I sparked it/What was meant to be, it began to set me free, skillful at this writing thing I finally found my therapy.

See Ya Later (SYL)

Thinking about the good times and all the shit you did for me/Like a movie reel that's in my mind playing back the memories/I was once blind but you made it so that I can see/Now you're gone away from me and I can barely fuckin breathe/But that's not where this story ends, this is just where it begins/A life time of love and an eternity as friends/I know that one day I will see your face again, there is no one replacing it, praying in my basement/This road is getting harder still, so I pop another pill/I would give the world to bring you back and feel what I once felt/The way you made my heart melt, helpled me through the good and bad and every hand that I've been dealt/Balling at your funeral, flowers were so beautiful/Helpless as I looked at you, there's nothing more that I could do/Life is so much different now, but I know you're lookin down and I know I'll make you proud/Heavens got a special one, you're peaceful with your maker/These are just my words that are written on this paper/I'll never say goodbye to you it's always See Ya Later.

Weren't Meant to Be

You and I were probably never meant to be/Rocky like the cliffs and more wavy than the sea/I feel like I've been stuck inside this purgatory/Trying to see what's on your mind but goin blind from trying to see/I look upon my watch but I don't seem to see the time/The time where we were young and every moment was sublime/Hiking boots on I grab the rope and try to climb/Climb outside this hell that's got me burnin deep inside/Roller coaster ridin up and down since you were mine/I rewind inside my mind the very start of you and I/Full motion like a picture, perfect scripture we were right/Thought you were so fine but I didn't see all of the signs/Too bad you could had the type of man to be your guy/Treat you like you needed, hold you tight throughout the night/Goin crazy for you baby and have no idea why/Thinkin of it now has got me down I'm bout to cry/Letting go all of my soul I spread my wings and let it fly/Need to close all that I know and wave my hand and say goodbye/Was so dumb when I was young but now I'm older and I'm wise/I put it all aside, I take a breath and close my eyes/You and me weren't meant to be and now I've seen it over time.

The Champ

Never ever doubt the heart of a fighter, especially his will, his heart and desire/Flames in his soul, outta control...Fire!/Retire? nope not a chance, not in a million cause he's movin too fast/Won't slow down because he can't/Round after round two fists, both hands/Ground and Pound beatin the competition, from the start to the finish with no intermission/Pay attention, just listen, a simple equation without multiplication, no division just addition/No kiddin he doesn't play games, winning in his veins, success on the brain, first class no plane, so great no dane/No limits, no stoppin, losings not an option, no chokin no floppin/The world is Goliath, you can call him David, Underdog? So what! he keeps on trainin, puttin in work he keeps on slavin/Haters keep hatin, he brushes it off, call him Ray Charles cause he's blind to it all/Won't slip, won't fall, won't trip, stands tall/Mind over matter, those that matter won't mind, those that mind don't matter, running crazy Mad Hatter/Shatter em like glass, 1st never last, second he can't have, reckless with his wrath/Eyes so focused, vision so clear, he's got 20/20 on a mission no fear!/His breath feels heavy, he was born to be ready, quick but yet steady, so slick but so deadly/Always up for the challenge, prepared to do some damage/You try to stand it but can't handle, can't grasp it, can't manage/No doubt he is the greatest, the best you've ever seen, from the top to the bottom and everything in between/So lock it up, zip it shut and seal it with a stamp/No debate, no discussion cause he is the Champ!

Take a Chance

You're more than just a maybe or a hopeful possibility/Visions of holding hands, take a chance this is killin me/Wake me up if this is fiction, don't want to waste another minute/not another second, my heads spinning in different directions, losing control I'm feelin helpless/I've got so much to offer but you never seem to bother/You don't know what you're missin, I'll be your man, slowly kissin/Baby just listen and please pay attention to all of the aforementioned/He's not what you want he'll never be what you need, so take a step off that ledge and take a chance on me/We can ride on this journey together forever as best friends/Through the straight and the narrow around the turns and the bends/I can pick you up whenever you're feeling down and I'll be your king inside this castle nicely fitted with the crown/You can be my queen who will always stand by her man/A beauty never seen with a ring up on your hand/Close your eyes and let go, take a breath and grab my hand/I can be your man if you'll only take a chance.

Tornado

Being with her is like trying to tame a tornado/Impossible to understand but once she’s yours the ride is that of anything ever known to man/She brings her love like a hurricane; the force of it will rip the breath from your lungs/But like watching a storm roll in with curious eyes, your feet will never move/Your body will simply brace until she lights a fire inside of you that will rise, and overtake, and soon you will both be lost in the beauty of it/The absolute raw force of fire and wind and rain all dancing and weaving in a torrent around where you each stand, together/Your sense of touch will be amplified, utterly charged and leaving you near catatonic from the awe of feeling such power racing through your fingertips; indeed, you’ve never touched a tornado until now/And you’ll take in the fierce scent of her until it fills your lungs and clouds your mind, until you can think of nothing but twisted metal and pouring rain/Until you desire nothing but to feel that again, that fury that rocked your soul, that girl who took your heart with the force of a thousand winds and left you kneeling on the ground, begging for more/And every night you’ll close your eyes and call up the memory of her scent, anything to get your heart to beat the way it raced with her/You’ll forever be praying to the gods for one last chance with your tornado.

Broken and Lifted

She has a heart that's been broken before and ripped right out and thrown on the floor/She's cried tears of pain and sorrow and prayed for relief and a better tomorrow/She's been pushed, hit and called a bitch/Open palms and even closed fists/Scars and bruises have all remained and of course the everlasting pain/Defeated and punished with walls built up, a savior has come with nothing but love/He hugs her, kisses her, calls her beautiful/Cares for her, loves her and the feelings mutual/For the first time she cracks a smile, something unseen in quite awhile/The walls come down that were once built up and along with that has come her trust/He wraps her up and vows to protect her. In sickness and in health as one forever/The pain has been lifted and she's no longer broken, her angel has saved her from all that was hopeless.

Faith

Take a page out of the bible, jot it down and rehearse it like the rehearsal at a recital/This is very vital, forget false idols, the highest of high holds the highest of all titles/Follow a small scripture, take a quick picture and picture a quick trip to a place with slick fixtures/God grant me the serenity to forgive all of my enemies/Take me to a place and a space that's more heavenly/I am a sinner so forgive me for I have sinned, the most sinister is still within, and on this line I walk is thin/It's in Gods hands now as the saying has been said and I'm handing you my faith as I'm breaking off this bread/Dear heavenly father, it's death before dishonor, so honestly I'll probably be dead before I bother/I believe that faith and a little bit of love, will grant me the key to your gates from up above/So as I walk with you and try and do as you do, don't forget my name on that list when I am through/Please review my life by the things that I've done right/Forget about mistakes and judge me by my faith.

Non-Sense

This is a kinda non-sense, outcha mind type of rhyme/Outta context, not your cortex, cerebral or the spine/In a vortex, sippin on a vodka and a lime/Yeah a new concept with a new conflict, runnin like a convict, moshin in a mosh pit/It's kinda hard to diverge between so many words, when the 1st plus the 2nd doesn't equal the 3rd/But that's the whole point man gotta keep em guessin, keep em scratchin their heads like what was the lesson?/Please stop stressin, now it's all irrelevant, just another testament you're forgetful like an elephant/In all fairness though I probably should say that 99% of my words confuse even me/And honestly it makes no sense, cause one second it's that and another it's this/So I digress and stick to what's best, putting words in constant contact with one's that match the rest/If you have to dig deep to try and find the true meaning, then maybe you should re-think exactly what you're reading/At this point now my whole brain is depleting, I'm going CRAZY and seeing things I shouldn't be seeing/Trivia questions but without all the answers, Dancing with the stars but without all the dancers/Baby 1 and baby 2 with the pampers and I'm seeing baby blue like the Carolina Panthers/5:26 and the kid is still at it cause my mind is so sick that I cannot break the habit/Possibly the most pointless piece ever put together/HAHA Yeah right more like the most clever!

This Ink

How am I even able to keep writing something that's good?/Well I've got an I.V. hooked up pumpin ink into my blood/That's how passionate I get when a thought enters in/This ink keeps me goin when flowin beneath the skin/It's a necessity to survive without it I couldn't be/Like oxygen within your lungs without it you couldn't breathe/As it travels through my veins to different parts of my body/I pick up my utensil and start my thought jotting/First I see the words that are scrambled in my brain/Then I line em all up like the cars that make a train/I then take the line and form a nice smooth sentence/And make the next line rhyme with the first for the finish/Once you repeat this about 20 more times/You get a bunch of different phrases made out of all the lines/The phrases put together paint an image for those engaged/And those images with feeling combine to fill the page.

The Addict

The path of an addict can be real weary/Spinning out of control because he's not steering/A much greater force that he cannot overcome/Has trapped him in hell and has made him numb/Searching for the light but this drug has got him blinded/And the scars along his arms are just the pain that is reminded/His whole entire focus was to simply get high/But his life just seemed so hopeless as it passed him right by/It was the alcohol, the meth and the coke and the weed/The pills, and the shrooms, the heroin and speed/He could feel his chest get heavy and his breath would be much shorter/With the chills and the sweats all curled up in the corner/For every single time that this event had occurred/No one ever lent a hand, no one ever said a word/It was a cry out for help and something that he wanted/Freedom from these demons that had his mind so gone and haunted/Some guidance and some vision to pull out through the darkness/But this high would be his last and also be his darkest.

Go Get It

This is more than motivation, and more than desire/More than the heart of a lion on fire/With passion and the presence of mind to go get it/And living every moment of life with no limits/You can never hold back, if you do you'll regret it/To accept anything less than perfection's pathetic/So push it much further than you thought that you could/And stand for everything you said that you would/They say talk is cheap, naw that ain't true/It's priceless if you do what you said you would do/Your words are important but your actions are louder/So act on those words with all of your power/As long as that train keeps movin it's great/But don't ever slow down or hesitate/The mind of a champ, the strength of a fighter/To see through the fog, the smoke, the fire/The level of greatness you can achieve/If you pursue your dreams that you believe.

Never Look Back

This is how it started and you won't believe it/Like a crook in the night the boy was thief'n/He was broke and hungry and had no other choice/Like trying to be heard but without a voice/So he hustled and grinded until he got what he needed/But kept it low key so he couldn't be defeated/Looking for food and whatever else he could get/Cause all of his life he never had shit/People always told him that he wouldn't become anything/Not a man, not a dad, no husband, no wedding ring/But all that talk just added fuel to the flame/Cause this kid had heart and was about to change the game/So he started to rearrange and turn the page/He could see himself in lights and on a bigger stage/Things became more clear and the sun started to shine/He too like the sun grew bright but within his mind/The checks started comin and so did his success/Bye Bye went all the pain, the anger and the stress/He had arrived and had finally made it/And never looked back to all those who hated.

ALL ALONE

This emptiness inside is painful and unforgiving/All alone in this darkness now I am sitting/I speak, but there is no one there to even listen/By the beast of this silence I have been bitten/The only sound that I hear is my own voice within my head/It's echoing and shouting that I'd be better off dead/I'm fearful and doubtful that you might never come back/As this train that I call life is derailing off the track/Anger and frustration are starting to get old/And this extreme complication has got a tighter hold/I would hate for this to end and be left out in the cold/But the truth and reality are starting to unfold/Wrapped around my throat is this grip that I had mentioned/It's suffocating me with an unrelenting tension/I look within myself to try and overcome it all/But the task is much too tough as I slip and I fall/The only thing that's left is for you to come back home/And to break this daunting pain of being all alone.

Me Myself and I

Welcome to me, myself and I/A trio of personalities and lives/Me is just me the one you know best/A fun loving guy that most know as Stretch/Myself is myself who keeps to himself/A more undisclosed, secretive side if you will/And I is the guy that gets things done/You can call him Adam the more professional one/Adam is also all about family/A good loving husband and a wonderful daddy/But he who is me loves to unwind and relax with friends just have a good time/And that's not I cause I is the guy with his eyes on the prize/Reaching and striving for all of his goals/Pushing and searching with all of his soul/Let's not confuse I with myself/Who bottles his emotions in a jar on the shelf/And within those emotions are pain and fear/That even the nearest and dear never hear/But that's just me, or at least the side of me that people don't see/Cause Stretch is me like I said before/Who will keep you laughing and begging for more/And that is only one third of myself/I mean I......I mean me/Maybe someday you'll get to see all 3!

Fatherless

Teardrops from a time that he'd like to forget/Painful memories that swarm in his head/A fatherless child since the age of 2/Angry and confused from what he's been through/All of his friends had moms and dads/but his life was different a time more sad/His mother is his life and has been full of care/But his father was missing and never was there/Questions were raised as to how and why?/But with every answer he'd breakdown and cry/Not a phone call, a b-day card or even a letter/Yet mommy always promised things would get better/Through all of this he emerged a man/Who ever said he needed a dad?/He didn't, he's fine is what he realized/His father was gone and dead in his eyes/He himself is now a father/And couldn't carry a better honor/Since day one he made a promise, to always be loving and to keep things honest/To be in their lives and never leave/To live for them with each breath he breathed/He'd never wish the same pain on his kids/Cause he knows what it's like to be fatherless.

Stuck on Cloud 9

I am on cloud 9, on a whole new level/So high up in the sky you could say that I'm celestial/Swimming in a sea of stars shining brightly/Scenery more heavenly than that of Keira Knightley/I am jet fighter flyin, whizzin past blazing comets/Shattering all barriers and surpassing supersonic/It's this pure adrenaline that's pumping through my veins/And speeding to my brain with a higher octane/It feels like i'm roided up like a slugger that's been juicin/I'm gone in 60 seconds like a car that's just been boosted/Spinning out of control with a sense of euphoria/More desperate than a housewive like Eva Longoria/Scratching and clawing as I scream and shout/But like P.Diddy and the family there's no way out/I'm stuck on this cloud now and I'm trying to get down/But everything that surrounds is going faster than sound/Faster than the fastest thing you've ever seen/And I'm trying to cut this thing short like the life of James Dean/But everytime I try I just run outta luck/Seems like forever on this cloud I'll be stuck.

Summer 09

I thought I would switch things up a bit and talk about how much fun I have been having this summer! But I will have more poems coming too promise! This summer has been amazing! First off I have been interning with KEYC TV here in Mankato. I have been learning so much with everything from shooting video to editing to writing stories for the news. Recently Vikings Training Camp has been here in Mankato and that has been a blast! The first few days I went up there as a fan to watch practice and get autographs. I got a signed football with nearly every player on the team and another one with just Adrian Petersons. I stood outside for countless hours for 4 days just getting these. (Yeah I know I am a diehard!) Now I have had the oppurtunity to go up to training camp to cover the practice and stories with KEYC. This has been such a great experience for me because I have been able to interview players, shoot video of practice and edit video as well. I have had the chance to interview Rookie WR Percy Harvin, WR Sidney Rice, Bobby Wade, Ryan Longwell, Kevin Williams and more! I am very thankful for everything KEYC has taught me and everything oppurtunity they have provided for me.

Just the other night Chelsea and I went to go see Daughtry in concert at the Cabooze in Minneapolis. I bought the tickets for her as a birthday present and she was really happy! The Cabooze is a smaller venue and is just General Admission so we got there early to get a good spot. We arrived around 12:30 and the doors didn't even open until 6 p.m. We were one of the first people there but it was well worth the wait! Chelsea ended up getting VIP passes and got to meet the band during soundcheck. She also got an autograph poster and a hug from Chris Daughtry which she was really happy about. The concert overall was amazing! We were right up front as we watched them Rock the hell out of the Cabooze! After the concert we waited outside of the tour bus for autographs. We got our Daughtry album signed by everyone and even got a few pics with some of the guys. Chelsea got a picture with Chris which once again she was extatic about!
Let's see what else? We had a fun 4th of July with family and friends up in Forest Lake! We have had a few great nights out with friends down in Mankato as well. Last friday especially...Thanks to everyone who came out! Oh Chelsea and I learned how to play disc golf this summer and that has been a fun hobby of ours too. We went to Valley Fair this summer and had a good time as always. Thanks mom for watching Olivia.
Olivia of course has been getting bigger everyday and she is so impressive with how much she has been learning. I am amazed each day with how smart my baby girl is. She is 20 months old now and can repeat numbers 1-10 and will repeat most of the ABC's. She also can sing twinkle twinkle little star by herself! She has a Pooh matching book which she can find every item on every page and match them! We love her so much and have just been having a blast together as a happy family:)
In Sept we will be going to the state fair and seeing REO Speedwagon and Styx in concert. (part of my moms bday present.)
Well that is pretty much it. We have done a ton more this summer like Camping, Golfing, Grilling and being around with good friends and family. Until next time......

Counterfeit

You're a counterfeit and a fake and a flat out liar/The devil's right hand man a real liar supplier/Fierce piercing eyes that light up like fire/Fabrication in your veins like it's your only desire/You hide behind that mask the main part of your attire/Passing out empty promises like and advertisement flier/Why not be truthful? Is all that I inquire/And do something good that might even inspire/But instead you choose to hang by a thin little wire/And dig yourself deep into a swampy quagmire/Yet your lies revolve like doors and go around like tires/A professional con like a conniver for hire/As your tall tales make sales by the highest buyers.

Superhero Status

My status is superhero I'm powerful and mighty/With claws like Wolverine or spit webs like Spidey/I've got an "S" up on my chest cause I'm all that is man/I'm darker than that Knight with a thieves throat in my hand/I'm laughing at you Jokers trying to cause mass hysteria/Cause I'm backed by a whole team of Avengers with Captain America/You're pathetic and sad as you sit there and sulk/When engaged with rage I can bulk like the Hulk/I'm a Daredevil too and nothing scares me/Not a bad guy or villain, not the worst archenemy/Lex Luthor's got nothing on my superhuman skill/I can shoot lazers like Cyclops and aim for the kill/I am the Punisher and Iron Man combined/Good v.s. Evil like Jekyll and Hyde/The Caped Crusader or even the Green Goblin/I'm on the frontlines, you're sidekickin like Robin/So here's my thesis, I'll rip you to pieces/And dissapear in thin air with my telekinesis/Quicker than Quicksilver and faster than the Flash/I'll spin around you so fast and leave in a dash.
